Ilias and Sons Wins the 2016 Foodie-Approved Award, Voted by Canadian Food Lovers

Ilias and Sons Greek organic extra virgin olive oil won the crowdsourced Foodie-Approved™ Award in 2016, voted by Canadian food lovers.

It was an important early milestone for our family business: recognition from people who enjoy discovering good food and sharing their favourites.

Recognition that meant something to our family

“We’re truly proud to have won this award,” said Ilias Giannakos, founder of Ilias and Sons, in our original announcement.

At the time, Ilias also spoke about the importance of the FoodiePages partnership and his hopes for reaching more customers with our olive-based products. That enthusiasm remains part of the story: a family business sharing Greek olive oil with Canada's food-loving community.

How the award was selected

Our 2016 announcement described an initial quality review by the FoodiePages.ca team, followed by tasting, ratings and reviews from its foodie community. The Foodie-Approved™ programme recognised food and drink through that consumer feedback.

This was historical recognition of taste and customer response, not a laboratory authenticity result, health certification or award for every later harvest.
